2017 has been a banner year for Boston's construction market. Could 2018's proposed developments possibly hold a candle to those of the previous year? We've gathered up a wealth of under-construction developments from Bushari's Boston Crane Watch to find out.

The Pierce | Fenway

The Pierce Boston is soon to be amongst the latest and greatest residential developments to hit the Fenway area. The mixed-use building will house 109 condominium units, 240 rental units, and over 20,000 square-feet of street-level retail space; bringing a new level of luxury to the growing neighborhood.

Four Seasons Private Residences, One Dalton | Back Bay

At a height of 740 feet, The 61-story One Dalton development will soon be the tallest residential tower in the entirety of New England. The tower's upper floors will house 180 private luxury condominiums while the bottom floors comprise of the Four Seasons luxury hotel with 215 rooms. In addition to a doorman and 24 hour residential concierge, One Dalton's distinguished communal amenities include a sprawling fitness center, a pet washing and grooming station, salon with nail and hair styling services, a lap pool, a theater room and a golf simulator station with bar. One Dalton made headlines earlier this year when Michael Dell purchased one of its three 8,000+ square-foot luxury penthouses. Completion date of the Four Seasons Private Residences at One Dalton is expected for the end of 2018.

The Hub on Causeway, Phase One | West End

Already surpassing The Benjamin & Via's ranking as Boston's largest mixed-use project, The Hub on Causeway at TD Garden will deliver a 1.87 million square-foot complex with residential, retail, office and hotel uses. The project is split into three phases, with phase one expected to reach completion by late 2018. This phase calls for the construction of 210,000 square-feet of multi-level retail/restaurant space including a Star Market and cinema, 175,000 square-feet of office space, 64,000 square-feet of expanded TD Garden space, 10,000 square-feet of sprawling outdoor space connecting TD Garden and North Station, as well as 540 underground parking spaces. Phase two will develop a 38-story residential tower with approximately 440 units and a 10-story hotel tower with 260 rooms, while phrase three will deliver a 21-story, 525,000 square-foot office tower.

14 West Broadway | South Boston

14 West Broadway will deliver 49 residential units and commercial space that includes offices, retail and a ground-floor restaurant and garage parking. Its well-appointed residences range in size from spacious single bedrooms to 4-bedroom duplexes. In addition to the residential units, the building includes a tenant-leased restaurant and retail space office space, film screening room, outdoor terrace, gym with lap pool and rooftop decks. The building's design complements the small-scale buildings of South Boston and the larger urban context of Boston's Downtown Financial District. 14 West is the perfect place to live for anyone looking to experience an upscale city lifestyle in South Boston.

14 West embraces the opportunity to positively influence the urban environment. Penniman on the Park | Allston

Located just across from Allston's Penniman Park, this 2018 development consists of approximately 14,136 square-feet of land. The project proposed construction of a new five-story, 36 unit residential building with on-site parking for 27 spaces. Related improvements in open space, landscaping and vehicular and pedestrian access to the site will be made in the surrounding area. Penniman on the Park will improve three existing commercial and storage concrete buildings on the site, which have no historic or architectural significance to the surrounding neighborhood. The new development is a highly anticipated addition the the vibrant neighborhood.

Penniman on the Park will comprise approximately 41,053 square-feet of space with 36 residential condominium units for homeownership on five levels of building above an in-ground parking garage. Six units within the project will be created as on-site affordable housing. The entire project will develop a brand new, attractive residential building that complements the style and character of the surrounding Allston neighborhood.

Congress Square | Financial District

Designated by its developers as an "inspired vertical urban campus", Congress Square will redevelop five interconnected buildings in Boston's vibrant Financial District. The project will transform 458,300 square-feet of buildings into office, hotel, retail and residential space. The existing buildings and additions are grouped into three distinct project components:

40 Water Street will be re-imagined as an innovation-economy office location with efficient floor plans, a large library and retail/restaurant space on the ground floor and lower levels. New construction includes a three-story addition to the top. 68 Devonshire Street includes an addition on a vacant lot and includes approximately 133-key boutique hotel and related uses. 15 Congress Street includes 35 residential condominiums and approximately 5,750 square-feet of street-level retail and restaurant space.

Rich in culture, these early 20th century buildings were known as Congress Square when they first opening between 1899 and 1921. The ground floor and lower level spaces will be returned to retail and restaurant use, which will enliven the streetscape and provide desirable retail and restaurant opportunities. The upper floors will be converted into contemporary offices, residences and boutique hotel rooms. At the center of the development, Quaker Lane will be graciously transformed into a pedestrian-friendly arcade. Congress Square is expected to create a unique urban campus that expresses the innovative energy of today's business in Boston's bustling Financial District. Completion of the office building and hotel is expected in the second quarter of 2018.

South Bay Town Center | Dorchester

This expansive redevelopment project will graciously transform a section of the South Bay Center shopping area in Dorchester. The new project will introduce 475 market and affordable-rate rental homes with approximately 90,000 square-feet of gross floor area for hotel uses. A total of 1,095 structured and surface parking spaces will be constructed in the center. The redevelopment will provide for the construction of new transit-oriented commercial and residential space, attracting more workers and visitors to the area and increasing diversity of the housing stock through the introduction of 475 new residential units. Further, the space will improve the urban design characteristics of the area by creating a neighborhood center in premier Dorchester.

345 Harrison | South End

A two-acre site at 345 Harrison Avenue in Boston's South End neighborhood will soon be home to two new residential buildings with ground-floor retail space and parking. The industrial area surrounding the parcel is the result of a post-WWII urban renewal process that is now undergoing substantial changes. This new development will continue the revitalization of the area and connect the vibrant Downtown Boston and growing South End neighborhoods.

345 Harrison will consist of two 14-story buildings totaling 535,900 square-feet. The project will include 585 residential apartments with up to 40,000 square-feet of ground-floor retail. Amenities include a 14th floor Sky Lounge, residential swimming pool and expansive fitness center. Residential parking will be provided via an underground garage with 275 vehicle and 325 bicycle spaces.

The project will improve pedestrian connectivity and circulation in the neighborhood and will serve as a vital physical and economic link between the Downtown and South End neighborhoods. The site will include a landscaped pedestrian path that leads to the MBTA Silver Line on Washington Street. Its location places it conveniently across the street from a Whole Foods Grocery store and countless other South End restaurants and shopping centers. The expected completion date for 345 Harrison is Winter 2018.
